We raise Freedom Ranger meat birds on the farm during the spring, summer and fall months. We purchase them as day old chicks and raise them for about nine to ten weeks. While they are a little slower growing than other meat bird breeds, we think they are worth the wait. They do excellent on pasture, and are feed free choice grain. We process them right on the farm, which only allows us to sell whole birds as they are not processed in a USDA regulated facility. They are so easy and delicious to cook, they are usually the first thing we sell out of in the farm store.
